Ready for a little Nursery Inspiration?! In my 10+ years of photographing newborns at home, I’ve seen A LOT of nurseries. While many are simple and some consist of a single bassinet in the corner of their parents bedroom (aka my sons’ “nurseries”), I’ve been slowly adding to my list of amazing designs in hopes of one day compiling them and sharing them with you!
Choosing a theme and decorating a nursery for a new baby can be an incredibly special experience. It’s one of the first ways parents prepare a loving space for their child’s arrival. It’s more than just design—it’s an expression of hope, joy, and anticipation. Every detail, from the colors on the walls to the soft blankets in the crib, reflects the love and care being poured into welcoming a new life. This space becomes a sanctuary, not only for the baby but for the parents too—a cozy, comforting environment where countless memories will be made.
Creating a nursery allows parents to dream about the future and begin building a world where their baby can grow, feel safe, and be surrounded by warmth from day one. And it’s just a lot of fun! So come check out a few of my favorites over the years. Apologies if you don’t see your nursery, I had to comb through roughly 200 sessions and I’m sure I forgot some good ones.
As a big fan of the books and movies myself, photographing this nursery and identifying all the subtle details was pretty exciting!
In addition to doing an amazing job of designing and decorating her son’s Taylor Swift themed nursery, this Mama also made a bunch of Taylor Swift themed onesies for her little guy to wear! They were all so cute I couldn’t pick a favorite!
This nursery was absolutely stunning (as was the rest of the house!). I loved all the details from the suitcase shelves to the wooden map above the crib; the hot air balloon in the corner and the multiple clocks showing different times (not pictured, sorry!).
An adorable theme for any little boy! I especially love the “Beep, Beep” plaque. Reminds me of The Little Blue Truck; which I’m sure Mom and Dad will be reading hundreds of times over the next few years!
As someone who LOVES Halloween, scary movies, reading thrillers, and haunted houses, this nursery definitely makes my top 10! There are so many adorable details it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think it might be the sign on the nursery door that reads “If one door closes and another opens your house is probably HAUNTED”!
Who doesn’t love a Bluey themed nursery?! This nursery can only be described as sunshine in a room! I love the quote on the wall… “Remember I’ll always be here for you even if you can’t see me, because I LOVE YOU”!
I love this Disney themed nursery! All the details from the vintage records above the crib to the rainbow garland fit together perfectly! It’s such a happy, friendly place with pooh bear watching over!
I love putting together Legos so this nursery was right up my ally! Mom and Dad had been slowly adding a Lego play-set for each Disney Princess around the perimeter of the nursery. Below each play-set was a hand drawn print of the Princess’s castle! Mom and Dad had also done this for big brother (I can’t recall what his theme was) and they said he LOVED taking down the different play-sets and playing with them! Such a fun and functional idea!
The following nurseries don’t follow a specific theme I can label like “Harry Potter” or “Disney”, but they were so well put together and include adorable details I loved capturing!
One of the best things about an in-home session is that not only do you get to capture your family, but you also have the opportunity to photograph the room your poured your heart, soul, and wallet (haha) into while waiting for your little one to arrive!
Ummm can I just point out that amazing mirror?!
This mama and I both have a small obsession with Jelly Cat stuffed animals. Only the best for our babies!
I loved the artwork in this nursery! Who wouldn’t want to sleep in such a colorful, inviting room!
I’m mildly obsessed with the green pegboard above the changing table and how perfectly decorated and functional it is! The mural on the opposite wall is also pretty cool!
The shape of this nursery was so cool. Check out the window in the photo on the far right! I’d also like the rug in my own bedroom!
This nursery also had a few Halloween details like the ghost sheets! I love the black and white; not something you see in a nursery everyday!
This nursery isn’t so much of a nursery as it is a crib in the corner, haha. I wanted to include a few images from a nursery that also happens to be the master bedroom. Just because you’re in an apartment or small house doesn’t mean you can’t put together a few little details for your newest addition! I love how sunny and happy the garland on the crib, the custom wood name sign, and the orange bedsheets made little Nora’s corner of the room!
A few iPhone photos of the nursery I designed for my first baby, Lucy. I would spend evenings on my laptop, laying on the couch, very pregnant, picking out the perfect little details for Lucy’s nursery 13 years ago. Most of the things I purchased were from Etsy. Including the turquoise lamp, yellow and turquoise stuffed elephants, and the prints. The dresser and bookshelf are from Ikea (we still have them in our home today!!) and the crib was from Pottery Barn (we no longer have). My father-in-law made the wooden yellow elephant on the white shelf above the dresser and the yellow curtains are from Land of Nod (Now Crate and Barrel Kids).
Thanks for following along. Whether you’re expecting a little one, designing a toddler room in the near future, or just looking, I hope you found some inspiration!
