It was a beautiful fall day. The park was packed with bikers, runners, and families enjoying the last few hours of sunlight on a Sunday evening. I met up with the Rogersons at one of their favorite stomping grounds in Niskayuna. Just a few miles from their home and located right on the Mohawk River; Ethan and Jonah have spent hours fishing, climbing trees, and generally being little boys here. It was the perfect backdrop for the family’s fall photo session. It’s been two years since I last photographed these two adorable boys, and boy have they grown up! Two years ago Jonah was just a little guy who begged to wear a shark T-shirt and athletic shorts to his session (Mom said no, clearly 😉 ). This year he and big brother Ethan picked out their own “grownup” outfits, ties included! I was impressed!
We had A LOT of fun. Ethan and Jonah had lots of great ideas on how and where they wanted to pose for family photos. We snagged some beautiful shots of everyone smiling and looking at the camera. But more importantly I captured beautiful photos of them interacting as a family. The love between these four radiates from their images. The brotherly bond between Jonah and Ethan made me laugh and smile and then tear up a little bit thinking of my own two boys at home who are also three years apart.
Towards the end of our session when I knew I had captured more than enough for a full gallery, I had the Rogersons snuggle up on one of my quilts together while Dad told the boys a story. I love how these images came out – the connection this family has together, the love they share, and the way the boys look up to their mother and father. Before we know it, our little ones are tweens and teens and story time and snuggles become a thing of the past. Thank you, Rogerson Family, for trusting me to document a snapshot of childhood for you to hold on to and treasure for a lifetime.
